What should a flooring installer charge?

Install per square foot
Labor is priced per square foot, and it varies a lot by material — laminate and luxury vinyl install cheaper than tile or hardwood. SideWRK loads $6 a square foot all-in and prices the common jobs off it: $1,600 for LVP or laminate, $2,400 for tile, $1,200 for carpet.
Tear-out and subfloor prep
Removing old flooring and leveling or repairing the subfloor is its own cost — uneven subfloor can be the biggest variable on the job. Subfloor repair defaults to $500 on its own line, so it never disappears into the per-foot number.
Material, pattern, layout
Tile patterns, herringbone, transitions, stairs, and tricky room layouts all add labor on top of the base per-foot rate. A hardwood refinish defaults to $1,400.
