What the Tax Wrap-Up is
It's the year-end view of your business money in one place: everything you took in, everything it cost you, and your logged expenses — added up and broken out by category. Because you've been invoicing and snapping receipts all year, the summary builds itself.
From it you can pull an income and costs CSV, a printable summary to hand your tax preparer, and QuickBooks-ready exports. The goal is simple: turn a year of side work into a clean page instead of a bag of paper.
What you can use it for
File without the shoebox
Your income and write-offs are already tallied and categorized, so tax time is a print-and-send instead of a weekend of sorting.
Hand your preparer one page
A clean summary and CSVs mean your accountant isn’t charging you to organize receipts — they just do the return.
Know what to set aside
Seeing income and costs across the year makes it clear roughly what you should be putting away for taxes, so it’s not a shock in April.
Feed QuickBooks
If you use QuickBooks, export your income and expenses straight in instead of re-typing a year of transactions.
How to use the Tax Wrap-Up
- 1
Run the year in the app
Invoice your jobs and snap your receipts as you go. The wrap-up is only as complete as what you’ve logged, and logging is a tap.
- 2
Open Money → Tax Wrap-Up
Find the year-end summary in the Money tab, with income, costs, expenses, and a category breakdown already totaled.
- 3
Pick the year
Choose the tax year you’re filing and the numbers roll up for that period.
- 4
Export or print
Pull the income and costs CSV, print the preparer summary, or export QuickBooks-ready files.
- 5
Hand it off
Send it to your tax preparer or drop it into your tax software. The prep is done; the filing is theirs or yours.
Why it’s in the app — and what it isn’t
Taxes are where a lot of side-work money quietly leaks: unrecorded income invites trouble, and unrecorded expenses mean you overpay. Keeping both in the same app all year means the year-end number is real, not reconstructed from memory.
To be straight with you: this isn't tax software and it isn't tax advice. SideWRK organizes and summarizes your numbers so filing is easy — your preparer or your tax program does the actual return. For how side-job taxes work and roughly what to save, see side-job taxes.
Tax wrap-up — common questions
Does SideWRK file my taxes?
No. It organizes your income and expenses into a clean year-end summary with CSVs and a preparer sheet. You or your tax preparer file the return — SideWRK does the prep, not the filing, and it isn’t tax advice.
What’s included in the summary?
Total income, total costs, your logged business expenses, and a breakdown by category for the tax year you pick — plus exportable CSVs and a printable page.
Can I export to QuickBooks?
Yes. The Tax Wrap-Up produces QuickBooks-ready CSVs for your income and expenses, so you don’t hand-enter a year of transactions.
Where does the income come from?
From the jobs you invoice and mark paid in the app. Keep your work in SideWRK through the year and the wrap-up reflects it automatically.
