What a payment request is
Set your pay handles once — Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, Zelle, Apple Pay — in Shop. Then on any job, tap Request payment and SideWRK gives you a shareable link (sidewrk.app/pay/…) plus a ready-to-send text. The public card shows the amount, what it’s for, and a job photo, with tap-to-pay buttons for Venmo, Cash App, and PayPal (Zelle and Apple Pay show as copy-to-pay handles).
When they pay, you tap Mark as paid and it logs the payment on the job. No card processing, no cut, no waiting on a payout — the money moves straight from your customer to you.
What you can use it for
Get paid with zero processing fees
Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, and PayPal go straight to you. For the jobs where the customer’s happy to send it over, there’s no reason to give up a card fee.
Send a real pay card, not just a handle
Instead of texting "Venmo me $180," you send a clean card with the amount, the job, and a photo — it looks legit and cuts the back-and-forth.
Skip the card setup entirely
You don’t need to connect a card processor to use this. Save your handles and you can request payment on the first day.
Keep the payment on the record
Mark it paid and it logs on the job, so the money you collected by text still shows up in your numbers.
How to request a payment
- 1
Save your pay handles
In Shop, add your Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, Zelle, and Apple Pay handles once.
- 2
Tap Request payment on the job
SideWRK creates a shareable pay link and a ready-to-send text with the amount and the job.
- 3
Send the link
Text or send the link. The customer opens a card showing the amount, the job, and a photo.
- 4
They tap to pay
They tap the Venmo, Cash App, or PayPal button, or copy your Zelle or Apple Pay handle, and pay you directly.
- 5
Mark it paid
Tap Mark as paid and the payment logs on the job, so your records stay complete.
Why no processor is a feature, not a limit
Not every job needs a card. When the customer already uses Venmo or Cash App, routing the payment through a processor just hands a cut to a middleman for no reason. A payment request skips all of it — the money goes person to person.
It’s included, it works from day one with no card setup, and it sits right next to card and Apple Pay in the app — so you pick the lane that fits the job.
Payment requests — common questions
Do I need a card processor for this?
No. Payment requests use your own Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, Zelle, and Apple Pay handles. There’s nothing to connect and no processing involved — it works from your first day.
Which apps does the pay card support?
Venmo, Cash App, and PayPal show as tap-to-pay buttons; Zelle and Apple Pay show as copy-to-pay handles (they can’t be deep-linked from the web).
How does the customer pay?
They open the link, see a card with the amount and job, and tap the app they use — or copy your handle. The money goes straight to your account.
Does it track the payment?
Yes. When you tap Mark as paid, the payment logs on the job, so it shows up in your money and your records like any other payment.
